It is difficult to find a great expecting mother gift!
You’ve probably strolled through the baby aisle looking at all those products and wondered, “What does she really need?”. Common
sense says she needs stuff like diapers and baby bottles but they don’t really make an exciting… “knock her socks off” … kind of gift!
In addition, baby stores’ registries are notorious for not checking off gifts that have already been purchased by someone else. You may be watching mommy open her presents and when she rips off the paper….surprise…that’s the same gift you got for her! Not good!
Then there is the whole issue of the ever-changing baby advice. What was en-vogue last year may not be the same today. So giving the same gift you did a few years ago may not be a good idea.
That’s why we have created Best-Diaper-Cakes.com. We know that diaper cakes (also know as shower cakes and baby cakes) are a fantastic gift to give to new mothers. As new parents ourselves, we have recently been through the whole parenting rollercoaster including:

During my pregnancy…
… one of my best friends gave me a diaper cake at our baby shower. It was the first time I had seen one or even heard of one, for that matter. But leave it to Jen to find such a hip baby gift! (Thanks, Jen!)
It was so cute, made from tons of little tiny diapers for my baby-to-be. Not only that, it was overflowing with all sorts of neat little items that I hadn't thought about yet: like baby lotion, pacifiers, bath towels and all sorts of other things.
The baby shower thrown for us was outdoors, so the Diaper Cake took its place of honor as the centerpiece on our “picnic table” of food and presents. As I continued down the road of being an expectant mother, I really started thinking (Ok, Ok…your right, STRESSING!) about all the things we needed to do to get ready for our baby's arrival.
It was at this time that I really came to appreciate the thoughtfulness of Jen’s gift. I was making a list of all the things Mark and I had to get when I went into our “nursery under construction” and looked at the diaper cake again.
For some reason, I felt compelled to take it apart and inventory it. Holy cow! I was amazed at how many things I checked off my list from that one gift!
And then came Jacob…
…he has been an absolute joy to us. Yeah, there have been challenging times, but overall the experience has been very rewarding and we have learned so much!
Now, several months later, after going through “the school of hard knocks”, everything is under control. We have a great feel for what things work well and what things don’t.
We have taken every opportunity to gather feedback from all of our friends and family. To prepare for this website, we even sent them all a huge survey covering everything from conception to 12 months after birth. This survey opened our eyes to lots of other baby items, techniques, and perspectives we hadn’t though about.
